Dear Eagle Families,

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year!  You may have noticed the hot air balloons throughout the office and school.  This year at East Lake our theme is “The Sky’s the Limit” as we work to support high levels of learning for ALL students.  Soaring in a hot air balloon takes knowledge and skill to keep it on the desired course despite varying weather conditions and natural roadblocks.  Our teachers are acting as pilots this year, using data and appropriate instructional strategies to keep us on course!

Please welcome our newest staff members to East Lake Elementary: Katelyn Beach (3rd Grade), Maritza Cano(paraprofessional), Makeila Clark (3rd Grade), Consuela Monica De Avila (Speech/Language), Omayra Fernandez-Nieves (Student Records Clerk), Rossana Foster (4th Grade), Tiffany Gibson (1st Grade), Kristy Herring (VE), Trina Huettl (4th Grade), Michelle MacMillan (ESOL Compliance), Monique Maloney (LPN),Caitlin McGrath (5th Grade), Rebecca Ori (5th Grade), Koralisse Padin-Lopez (VE), Kimberly Parker (VE), James Reid (paraprofessional) and Mayra Velez-Garcia (Bookkeeper).  These additions to our East Lake families come with a variety of experiences and I am excited they are here with us.

We plan to focus on two goals this year based on our data and will be reviewing/editing these goals at our first School Advisory Council meeting on August 23rd at 7:15 AM.

Goal 1:  If East Lake Elementary increases rigorous, standards-based instruction with authentic student engagement for all grade levels in reading, mathematics, and science through planning, collaboration, and professional development, then student achievement for ALL students will increase.

Goal 2:  If East Lake Elementary increases timeliness to school and attendance at school, then student achievement will increase.

A variety of strategies were developed in order to accomplish these goals.  We welcome your input and look forward to seeing you at the first meeting.

I welcome you to contact me to discuss your child’s progress or ideas to make our school a better place.  My e-mail address is delucah@osceola.k12.fl.us.  You may also reach me by phone at the school number, which is (407) 943-8450.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child as we work toward an academically successful school year!

-Mrs. DeLuca
