A Message from the Principal

Left, Asst. Principal Perlaza Right, Principal Telemko

🌟 Welcome to an Exciting First Quarter! 🌟

We’re thrilled to begin Year 2 of our Leader in Me journey, and it’s been wonderful to see our students back on campus, learning, growing, and blooming as leaders! 🌱❤️

Throughout this first quarter, students are learning their classroom routines and procedures, setting personal and academic goals, and exploring the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, the foundation of our leadership culture. 🧠🎯

📊 From August 25th through September 15th, students will participate in FAST Progress Monitoring 1 (PM1). This assessment helps teachers begin with the end in mind by using data to guide instruction and meet individual student needs.

📚 We’re also excited to invite families to our Title I Family Engagement Night, where we’ll focus on:

  • 🌟 The Leader in Me framework
  • 📘 Florida Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.)
  • 🧠 How instruction is designed to support student success

Thank you for partnering with us as we help every child discover the leader within. It’s going to be a fantastic year of learning and leading! 🚀🙌

Lead with Heart, Embrace Diversity, Inspire Change.

Thank you!

Testimonials

"I am a member of the National Honor Society. I am also part of the dance club and the Spring Musical. East Lake has offered me a positive environment where I am able to thrive as a student leader. Being kind to one another makes a huge difference in our school. Here at East Lake, we practice kindness and synergize with one another. I am very happy that my school is a “Leader in Me" school. I am learning the 7 habits of successful students." -Riley, Student

"I am the proud president of the National Honor Society here at East Lake. NHS recognizes students who excel in four key areas: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. It has been an honor serving my school and showcasing my leadership skills. This year with the implementation of Leader in Me I have been able to learn the 7 habits of a successful student and apply them to my daily life as a student and member of society. Being an Eagle has prepared me to be a true leader. I had the opportunity of being the master of ceremony at the second Black History Celebration here at East Lake. That was a proud moment for me and other members of the Honor Society." -Nazir, Student

"Being in the Dual Language program has equipped me with the skills to be a bilingual student and develop cultural awareness. This helps me build meaningful connections with my peers and community members. Learning two languages boosts my cognitive skills, such as problem-solving and multitasking. The Dual Language program here at East Lake Elementary has helped me to be ready to showcase my abilities and success in a vibrant, globalized society. I plan to continue with my bilingual education as I transition to middle school." -Klaudia, Student

"With support from my teachers and family, I continue to grow and embrace my bilingual abilities. I feel empowered as a leader, and I look forward to serving my community. Being in this program has given me the necessary skills to grow as a bilingual student and prepare for the future. I now have the confidence to help others who are learning English or Spanish, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come in both languages. This program has not only helped me in school, but also taught me the importance of understanding different cultures and perspectives. I love being bilingual and biliterate!" -Martin, Student
